Toronto, Canada

Updated: Jun 13, 2023

Toronto is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Canada. If you are planning to visit this place, I would highly recommend going solo or taking someone with you so that you get a chance to experience the beauty of this city along with the comfort of your own company.

The main purpose of my trip was to meet my BEST FRIEND who lives in Toronto, Canada. People say that it is difficult to travel with kids but it is even more difficult traveling without them. A big thanks to Kevin's parents for taking good care of my babies (including Kevin) while I was in Canada.

I reached Canada by 9:00 pm but the immigration/security check took a long time. My friend picked me up and we headed to her apartment in downtown Toronto.

We had breakfast from Canada's famous Tim Horton's the next morning. Honestly, I am not a big fan of their coffee, I am a Starbucks lover.

I met my friend, Arjun for lunch. We went to a really good Japanese restaurant called Minami Sushi in downtown Toronto.

Hey Arjun, if you are reading this - Thank you for the birthday cake and flowers! It was very thoughtful of you.

My birthday was in May but I was not able to celebrate it because my kids were down with a fever. Kevin has promised me a birthday celebration "before the end of this year."

360 revolving restaurant at CN Tower, Toronto

We had dinner from the 360 restaurant at CN tower. The entrées were just ok. This restaurant is very expensive but the view is worth it. This restaurant offers you free pass to the main observation level and glass floor.

We wanted to do the Edgewalk but there were no tickets available for sale :(

Later, we all went back to the apartment and played blackjack till 2:00. am.

Niagara Falls

My bestie and I took a bus from HarbourFront Center to Niagara. Falls at 8:30 am. $29 CAD for each ticket. We reached Niagara Falls by 10:00 am. The bus stop was near the falls. We had booked the Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview Hotel and Spa. I highly recommend you book a hotel with the view. It was so worth it. I paid around $289 CAD for the night.

Hornblower Niagara Cruise

If you're looking for an easy way to get a good view of the iconic Niagara Falls without all of the hassle, consider booking one of these amazing cruises!

The cruises will give you a raincoat to match the country :)

Blue raincoat - USA (Maid of the Mist cruise)

Red raincoat - Canada (Hornblower cruise)

2014 Flashback

I visited Niagara Falls in 2014 and these pictures were taken from "Maid of the Mist" cruise.

Tips for Niagara cruise

  • Wear crocs

  • It will be windy - if you have long hair, tie it

  • Wear your sunglasses if you are visiting in Summer

  • Enjoy the view, take the pictures later

Clifton Hills - Niagara Falls

Clifton Hills Niagara falls, or simply Clifton Hill for short, is a tourist attraction in Niagara Falls. It is like a Canadian Las Vegas with a family boardwalk feel to it! Tons of souvenir shops and places to eat, tons of things for kids and couples.

Queen Victoria Park

We spend 1 hour laying down on the grass under a huge tree and talking about random stuff. It was peaceful and refreshing just being in the moment.

Niagara Speedway

If you love go-karting, you should not miss this activity. There surely is a long wait but it is all worth it when you sit in the kart. For approximately $15, you get 4 laps of the circuit which is totally worth it.

Casino

There are tons of Casinos near Niagara Falls but not as fancy as Vegas Casinos. We played Blackjack for 2 hours and the rest of the trip was funded by the money we won at the casino. So yaaay!

Observation Deck and Fireworks

We watched the Niagara fireworks from the Skylon towers at 11:00 pm. It was spectacular.

Niagara- on-the- lake: Canada's prettiest town

This town is 25 minutes from Niagara falls. Truth be told, it’s a relatively small town but it’s packed full of character, charm and history that’ll almost have you swooning as soon as you arrive. You feel like you popped back into the 19th century.

We roamed around the town for half a day. You must definitely try the Chimney cake from Budapest Bakery.

Peller Estate Winary

Our next stop was the Peller Estates. I did a wine by the glass at the Winery. Amazing and friendly service. They give you a souvenir glasses.

This Winery is famous for their ICE WINE. If you are wondering what ice wine is....

Ice wine is a type of late-harvest wine that's made from grapes that are left on the vine so far past the typical growing season, they actually froze before they were picked. Because the water inside the grapes freezes—while sugar and other solids do not—the result is an even more highly concentrated and sweet wine.

My return flight from Toronto to Houston was cancelled due to crew constraints which gave me an extra day to spend with my dear cousin. This was my first visit to her home in Ontario and I loved her interior decorations.

Toronto is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Canada. There are many things to do while visiting this beautiful city. Whether you are looking for adventure or relaxation, TORONTO has something for everyone!
