A boat ride into the sunset

The Sunday evening Texas weather was so perfect for a boat ride. We normally go for a boat ride as a quarantine date activity. That's when Kevin and I have long conversations, share gossips and plan things for the future. This time our boat ride was a bit different. Kevin had purchased a DJI Mavic Air 2 a while ago and he wanted me to fly the drone and capture the beautiful sunset.

We live near a regional airport, so a lot of areas for flying a drone are restricted. A license is required to unlock those restricted areas and this license expires after three days. This is mainly to ensure that our flights are conducted safely and in accordance with all local laws and regulations.

Flying a drone is a piece of cake, if you are a gamer. The controls are very similar. Your phone can act as the display screen once it is connected to the controller. The battery life is 20 - 25 minutes. I was scared of accidentally dropping the drone in the water because I was manually controlling it rather than turning on the "Active Tracking" feature. For me to get the video from different angles, manual control was the best option.

While I was busy with the license procedures, Kevin was getting our sculling boat ready. We have a WhiteHall spirit solo 14 single scull row boat. Rowing this boat is a perfect work out that is gentle and effective.

In the below video you can see me staring at the drone every 5 secs to make sure it was still up in the air. Hope you all enjoy the video and my poor editing.
