7 nights on the Icon of the Seas - World's largest cruise ship

The Icon of the Seas isn't just a cruise ship - it's a floating paradise. From the moment you step aboard, you're enveloped in a world of luxury and innovation. I booked this cruise back in 2022 and was able to book the rooms for a good rate. It's completely booked up for the next 2 years! I thought I'd share my experience cruising on the world's biggest ship and spill the beans on how much Kevin paid to book it.

The port was in Miami so we had to take a flight from Houston to Miami 2 days prior to the cruise departure. This was our second cruise with the Royal Caribbean.

Right when we walked onto the ship we were greeted by one of the 2,350 crew members offering to take my photo with The Pearl, a stunning kinetic art installation inside the ship's Royal Promenade neighborhood.

What I liked about Icon of the Seas

  • FREE unlimited food onboard

  • Spacious Oceanview rooms with modern decor

  • The staff was extremely friendly

  • Clean and tidy - ALWAYS

  • Royal Caribbean app has free texting and cruise map

  • Activities and games were perfectly organized

  • Smooth check-in process

  • Multiple swimming pools. Toddlers who are not potty trained have a separate pool.

  • Ice rink

  • Water Theme Park on the ship

  • Free ice-cream 24/7 (Chocolate and Vanilla)

  • Cruise is 100% stroller friendly

  • BYOB up to 12 cans or 2 bottles of wine or champagne

  • Passengers are of mixed ages

  • Tasteful interior decor

  • Variety of shows and entertainment

  • Formal dinner nights

  • Casinos

  • Music Bands

  • Some cafes are open 24/7

Things to watch out while cruising with Royal Caribbean

  • Alcohol and laundry on the ship is EXPENSIVE

  • $18 is charged each day for each person (including kids) as gratuity fee. You receive this bill after you disembark the ship. This fee is not include while booking your tickets

  • Bottled water was $4 each. To save money, carry an empty bottle to fill water from the food area.

  • No hair conditioners in the bathroom. Only shampoo. Pack a bottle of conditioner.

  • It can get a bit chilly inside the ship so carry a sweater

  • We have to walk a lot to get from one end of the ship to another.

  • If you are not back from the port on time, the ship will leave without you.

  • If you travel with toddlers, bring diapers and wipes.

  • Medical room inside the ship will cost you an arm and a leg.

Exploring Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Philipsburg, the capital of Dutch St. Maarten, combines European allure with Caribbean liveliness. The town is famous for its beautiful beaches, tax-free shopping, and bustling waterfront. Explore Front Street, home to a variety of stores selling a wide range of items, from jewelry to local handmade crafts. Great Bay Beach is a must-see for those who enjoy the beach, with its immaculate sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Charlotte Amalie, the capital of the U.S. Virgin Islands, is another gem of the Caribbean. The town's Danish colonial architecture and cobblestone streets add to its charm, making it a delight to explore. If shopping is your thing, Main Street is packed with cool shops and jewelry stores. And if you're all about the beach life, Magens Bay is just a quick drive away and is often called one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. So much to see and do in this awesome place!

CocoCay Island, Bahamas

Our third port was the CocoCay Island and let me tell you, it was so hot that day that even the coconuts were sweating! I was planning to take some pictures, but my pregnancy fatigue decided to photobomb every shot. 🌴😅

COST breakdown of this cruise

We were 7 people traveling-2 kids included. This excludes the cost of airfare to Miami and the hotel expenses. The cost of a cruise on the Icon of the Seas varies depending on the stateroom category and the length of the cruise.

It's important to book early to secure the best rates and availability, especially for popular itineraries and peak travel seasons.

Here is a two minute video to show the interior of the cruise ship

Cruising on the Icon of the Seas is an unforgettable experience, combining the luxury and innovation of a world-class cruise ship with the beauty and adventure of the Caribbean. From the vibrant streets of Philipsburg to the historic charm of Charlotte Amalie, each destination offers unique experiences that enhance your journey. Whether you're a seasoned cruiser or a first-time traveler, the Icon of the Seas promises a vacation like no other. So, pack your bags and get ready to set sail on the adventure of a lifetime.
